In an industrial expanse of Downtown Los Angeles, a couple of blocks from the massive American Apparel factory, lies the Los Angeles Arts District, home of popular restaurant and beer house, Wurstküche. It’s a lively area filled with street art and edgy restaurants, new-age healing centers and budding art galleries. Yet, only six years ago, the LAAD neighborhood was just another blotch of indistinguishable urbanity.

Conversing with Chloe Chaidez, frontwoman of the LA-based rock band Kitten, about music feels like talking to Quentin Tarantino about movies. Every sentence is packed with musical references, every observation fully grounded upon the paleontological striations of music history.

Lobos may mean wolves in Spanish, but The Lobos Truck is more known in the Los Angeles food truck scene for its deliciously comforting mac and cheeses, Kobe Chinook burger, and Wachos—a wildly popular combination of waffle fries and nachos—than the wolf on the red truck’s logo.
